The Atholl Centre is a purpose built conference and holiday centre and community venue situated in Pitlochry, a small tourist town in the heart of Highland Perthshire. The Centre is a registered charity and run with a Christian ethos. We welcome guests from all backgrounds.

We have a vacancy for a social media intern who will carry out social media activities to prepare for and implement a crowdfunding campaign to raise the last few thousands to build a new accessible meeting room at the Atholl Centre to enable it to serve its communities better and to better fulfil its ambition to be accessible for all. He/she will be responsible for developing our existing social media platforms and opening up new platforms. In conjunction with the fundraiser he/she will plan & develop the crowdfunding campaign designed to attract both existing & new donors.

We are looking for a graduate in at least 2nd year of their course with rich experience in social media. Suggested relevant courses would be marketing & social media, business intelligence & social media, journalism, media studies, any course where the student is familiar with a variety of social media platforms for their personal use, particularly if they have used social media to support or promote clubs they have been involved in, language based courses such as English, History or Modern languages, art based courses which involve video making or visual communication

The Centre has 3 public rooms, 11 bedrooms and 2 self-catering apartments. Our keywords are Training, Enabling & Refreshing. As well as providing a venue for residential and community courses and meetings, guests come for life changing holidays offering networking possibilities, mutual support and encouragement to people with chronic illness, disabilities and disadvantaged backgrounds. Run as a Social Enterprise the Centre also provides holiday B&B and a self-catering flat for respite, retreats and personal breaks. The Centre was specifically designed to include disabled people among our guests, and recently we have been fundraising to improve our accessible accommodation and bring it in to the 21st century.

As a Community Centre we host about 15 different community groups and activities and so have a large number of local users. Residentially, while the majority of users come from Scotland (about 40 different groups), we do have guests from other parts of the UK and from abroad (over 30 countries for B&B). We have recently celebrated success in fundraising to make a few major improvements to our facilities, which we have just opened, and are hoping with your help to reach our total for the new meeting room, so that that too can be built.

Applicants for this post must have relevant social media qualifications and/or experience including facility with language. Video-making skills would be a bonus. This person must be good at working in a team as well as working independently. We are looking for someone who is creative and self-motivated. Good people and communication skills are essential. We will be getting advice & help from others in the sector as we build this campaign and expect this person to be open to new ideas as well as able to contribute their own.

For this post, it is important that you are committed to the Atholl Centre’s ethos, working principles and vision and are able to demonstrate this through your commitment and motivation.
